Cost of studying in Lyon

As you would expect, Lyon has a buzzing student scene, and it’s also known for offering a very high quality of life, but with significantly lower living costs than the French capital, Paris.

Life and culture in Lyon

The third-largest city in France, Lyon is known for its magnificent architecture. Bordered by mountains on one side and the sea on the other, the city has a charming medieval centre that is beautifully illuminated after dark.

Often referred to as the gourmet capital of France, Lyon has a wide selection of great restaurants, including several Michelin starred establishments. If fancy food isn't for you, the city also offers plenty of traditional bistros and smaller restaurants for you to enjoy.

While studying in Lyon, you should take a trip to the medieval town, Pérouges, and visit the town of Vienne, which houses a well-preserved Roman temple and a Roman pyramid.

A lesser-known fact about Lyon is that it was the birthplace of modern cinema. The first-ever motion picture was created in Lyon in 1895 by the Lumiere brothers.
